Yesterday many of us, myself included, found ourselves unable to log in. The server itself was fine, but our service provider had a security script go a little crazy and start blocking our IPs under suspicion of DDOS (Direct Denial Of Service) attacks. This resulted in preventing users from connecting, as their IPs were put on a temporary ban to protect the site.

The provider realized the error after I was blocked a second time and fixed the script but the IPs remained affected.

I spent as much time as I could yesterday collecting IPs of people who reached out to me and having them cleared, but ultimately I'm sure most of you who were affected had to wait the default 24 hours for the ban to be lifted.

Now - here's what's really important - if you had our Facebook page "liked", you would have known about the issue and how to contact me in order to get your ban lifted early.

We use the Facebook page to keep people up to date on site issues whenever the site goes down.

So - if you want to stay informed, LIKE OUR PAGE (https://www.facebook.com/debtfreefanatics/)! Don't miss the news!

Huh. I usually leave this page open in my tray all day, so I never noticed a problem. I forget about the FB page, because it never shows in my news feed. I will have to make a point of interacting with it so FB will think I'm interested.

I didn't even realize there was a DFF facebook page until the kerfuffle yesterday.

We also have a Twitter account, though it wouldn't have helped with yesterday's issue since the Head Twit wasn't aware there was anything to tweet about.

I like you, Greebo. I really, really do.

And your little Facebook page, too. ;)

It's funny- when I couldn't get into Dave's forums, I felt panicky. When I can't get in here, I feel confident that smart people are working on whatever problem there may be, and I know I'll be back home soon.
