Is there a setting I need to turn on or off, or some other reason why I can't see pictures using Safari? Chrome and Firefox have been giving me issues browsing so I am using Safari again. I've made sure everything is updated and flash has been removed, and cleared all of the cookies etc. but the photos show up in Safari as the blue box with a ?, yet they seem to be fine in Firefox.

Any ideas?

Is it all images or just some? Can you link some example threads where you do and don't have the problem?

Hmm, after looking at several threads - it seems to be the way or format some members use to post pictures. Caturday threads I see all the pictures but the political cartoons thread and the King & Queen of your home thread I see about half of the pictures.

May we have post numbers of ones from those threads you can see, and post numbers of ones from the same threads you can't?

Yeah, I can do that - it may be a bit alter before I get to it though.

No problem, take your time.

We're trying to troubleshoot your issue, and one of the ways to do that is to cut down on the number of variables in play.

Feel the Bern (http://debtfreefanatics.com/threads/7305-quot-Feel-the-Bern-quot) - posts 1, 2, 5, & 6

Political cartoons - 3rd page posts 94, 97 - 100, 102, 107 - 109, I didn't look at the ones on the prior pages I have my post set to the max per page 40 I think.

Post a picture of the king or queen of your house (http://debtfreefanatics.com/threads/7232-Post-a-pic-of-the-King-or-Queen-of-your-house!) - posts 4-6, 8, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 21, 22

Which can and which can't you see?

Sometimes I can't see pictures either. And here's the weird thing, sometimes I can't see my own pictures.

Specifically in this thread:
http://debtfreefanatics.com/threads/7305-quot-Feel-the-Bern-quot

On my Win 7 work laptop, I can see my own pictures with the default IE10, but not chrome. However I can see the picture by cwilli in Chrome.

On my Win10 desktop, I can see the pictures with chrome.

Those are the pictures I can't see. I can see the rest of the pictures in those threads. I picked short threads that are either less than 2 pages or on the cartoons thread just looked at the 3rd page of the thread.

I can see all of the pictures in the Caturday threads.

I think I'm onto something.

You cannot see picture in post 2, but you CAN see the picture in post 3, right?

There is a difference in how they're being referenced that could be related. SHOULDN'T be - but if Safari is stupid it could...

Yes. That is correct. I also noticed it in the A New Poll thread - basically I could see the images Patrick posted but none of the rest.

er, wrong thread that should be the unemployment thread with all the graphs.

The html for the image from post 2

And for the image from post 3

<img class="attach" alt="" src="attachment.php?attachmentid=2431&stc=1&d=1454600577">

the alt text shouldn't matter, what's really different are the SRC tags - one starts with the dff url prefix the other does not.

Tell me - which if any of these images can you see?

1

and/or #2

Hmm that didn't work. I can't see #2

Very odd indeed. Not sure how that src tag in #3 (http://www.debtfreefanatics.com/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=3) is working at all..

Oh and another wrinkle in this is that everything is viewable using my iPad.

Well without having access to a copy of Safari myself I'm afraid I have no idea what the issue might be. :(

oh well. I don't know enough code to figure it out which is why I brought it up to you. Eventually it'll get sorted out.

We need a tech savvy user who uses a mac to look at this who can tell me what is causing Safari to freak. :(

Does such a person exist?

Does such a person exist?

My DH but he can't look at it till this weekend. :p

I was on another v-bulletin forum and having the same issue and the individual posting fixed it. here is our convo -

Yes I can see it now :D - what did you do to fix it? I am unable to see some images on another v-bulletin forum as well.

There's a couple trouble-shooting things to do:

First, I wrote the post and pasted it, but had an internet hiccup (or the forum was down, we aren't sure) and it didn't paste. I refreshed but that didn't work, so I came out of my browser and went back in. I re-pasted the post and posted it, but got the error. I went in, intending to delete the pics and repost them, but it appeared fixed.

So, this morning, that's what I did - deleted them and just re-did the pics.

Second, this forum has a size default to thumbnail for pics. So paste your pic, then double-click it; you'll get a dialog box that lets you re-size and center or whatever.

So maybe it's in how the individuals are inserting the images into their posts?

Thomas.

I am on Google Chrome, with a Windows computer and have the same issue. I'm seeing exactly the same thing and actually posted that in the "King or Queen" thread.
